Movie Of The Month- FORREST GUMP

My movie of the month for August is Forrest Gump (1994)...

Director: Robert Zemeckis
Writers: Winston (novel), Eric Roth (screenplay)
Cast: Tom Hanks, Robin Wright Penn, Gary Sinise.

Wel, many had been recommendin the movie to me, but i never got to see the whole movie. But yesterday i made it to see the whole movie. Wel, I liked it a lot. A simple movie with humour, romance, sadness, love, action, drama. Tell me an emotion you cant find in the movie.

Tom Hanks in title role of Forrest Gump is simply superb, proving yet again that he is one of the finest actors of the present time.

The movie goes with a tagline : "The story of a lifetime". Well, it defenitely is.

"The world will never be the same once you've seen it through the eyes of Forrest Gump."

The story: "It begins with Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks) telling the story of his life at a small bus stop near a park to the people who awaits theirs buses there. he doesn't care if the people listens or even when they leave him. he goes on with his story.

Forrest Gump is a simple man with little brain activity but good intentions. He struggles through childhood with his best and only friend Jenny. His 'mama' teaches him the ways of life and leaves him to choose his destiny. Forrest joins the army for service in Vietnam, finding new friends called Dan and Bubba, he wins medals, starts a table tennis craze, creates a famous shrimp fishing fleet, inspires people to jog, create the smiley, write bumper stickers and songs, donating to people and meeting the president several times. He captures fame, fortune and glory in his life but his only concern is his love of his life- Jenny, who has messed up her life but is always eludes him. Although in the end all he wants to prove is that anyone can love anyone ."

The movie has some really touching quotes.

The movie begins with the words: "Hello. My name's Forrest, Forrest Gump. You want a chocolate?"

Forrest Gump: My momma always said, "Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get."

Forrest Gump: "You died on a Saturday morning. And I had you placed here under our tree. And I had that house of your father's bulldozed to the ground. Momma always said dyin' was a part of life. I sure wish it wasn't. Little Forrest, he's doing just fine. About to start school again soon. I make his breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day. I make sure he combs his hair and brushes his teeth every day. Teaching him how to play ping-pong. He's really good. We fish a lot. And every night, we read a book. He's so smart, Jenny. You'd be so proud of him. I am. He, uh, wrote a letter, and he says I can't read it. I'm not supposed to, so I'll just leave it here for you. Jenny, I don't know if Momma was right or if, if it's Lieutenant Dan. I don't know if we each have a destiny, or if we're all just floating around accidental-like on a breeze, but I, I think maybe it's both. Maybe both is happening at the same time. I miss you, Jenny. If there's anything you need, I won't be far away. "

Forrest Gump: "Now you wouldn't believe me if I told you, but I could run like the wind blows. From that day on, if I was ever going somewhere, I was running!"

Jenny Curran: His name's Forrest.

Forrest Gump: Like me.

Jenny Curran: I named him after his daddy.

Forrest Gump: He got a daddy named Forrest, too?

Jenny Curran: You're his daddy, Forrest.

Forrest Gump: My Mama always said you've got to put the past behind you before you can move on.

a solitary exodus....

this is my space; its all about my life, the people i've met, the people i dream of meeting, people i love, people i like, people i hate, people i miss, people who have influenced me, helped me. it is about those hundreds of my emotions, all small and imperfect, but nevertheless completing me.
